Canada Post Bargaining: bargaining team recommends no vote on last CPC offer

Have Your Say!

We would like to begin by thanking you for your patience and all the support we received from PSAC/UPCE members. It has sustained the team through what has been a very difficult round of bargaining.

During these negotiations, the team worked hard to achieve the membership mandate:protecting and maintaining the existing Collective Agreement provisions for current and future UPCE members.

The team is now satisfied that with the exception of applying for conciliation, we were fully able to explore all bargaining options available to us and we will be sending the CPC offer of September 16, 2013 out for a vote.

It is for the following reasons that the team will not be recommending acceptance of CPC’s last offer as this is all the employer is putting on the table

  • 107 workers have not yet received job security and will be at risk.
  • Workers doing the same work will receive different benefit and pension provisions
  • The team is disappointed that CPC could not even find a way to protect current wages of volume counter
  •  PSAC members, who comprise less than 3% of the workforce, have been offered a less than acceptable wage increase over the length of this contract

Over the next few months, you will have the democratic opportunity to have your say as to the kind of workplace you want both now and in the future. .

The current collective agreement will remain in force until further notice.

Meeting times and locations for local voting will be provided in the near future. Stay tuned for more information.
