PSAC and our members are frustrated with the government’s failure to follow through on its commitment to delay recoveries of overpayments and emergency pay until federal public service workers have had all their pay problems resolved.
Now that tax filing season is in full swing, PSAC wants to remind its members in the federal public service about some important information regarding Phoenix-related tax implications.
In response to pressure from PSAC, the federal government has finally agreed to halt recoveries of overpayments, emergency salary advances (ESA) and priority payments until employees’ pay files have been cleared of all outstanding transactions.
PSAC members and allies took action February 28 to mark the second anniversary of the disastrous Phoenix pay system. By all accounts the day was a huge success, here is a wrap up of the activities that took place and links to the media coverage.
Public Service Alliance of Canada-Agriculture Union members working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency have ratified a new collective agreement in a series of votes held over the last two months across the country.
As the second anniversary of the launch of the Phoenix pay system approaches, 17 unions representing over 225,000 federal public service workers have sent a joint letter of demands to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The unions are asking the Prime Minister to deliver a plan to work with federal government employees to rebuild a payroll system that will pay them accurately and on time – every time.

In-person sessions
Hello fellow PSAC members,
I met with Randall Garrison, Member of Parliament for Esquimalt—Saanich—Sooke, on January 16th. Randall has committed to assisting PSAC members in his riding to the best of his abilities on the Phoenix issue. He has committed to working with me as the PSAC Vancouver Island Coordinator.
In order to help raise public awareness and support, Randall would like to have examples of the Phoenix pay issues that his constituents have been experiencing.
