RE: CLC Leaders’ Seminars 2013

As many of you know, the Canadian Labour Congress is inviting locals of affiliates  to attend regional seminars as part of its Together Fairness Works campaign. The purpose of the seminar is to provide information about the campaign and to train locals in initiating member-to-member education. (See below for more information from the CLC.)

While we should encourage PSAC local and regional leaders to attend the seminars, it is also important to understand that the CLC sessions are very similar to the recently completed regional leadership meetings organized and paid for by the PSAC.  Therefore, local and Component leaders who want to take part in the CLC sessions will have to do so at their own expense.  It will also be important that PSAC leaders who attend the CLC sessions understand that the PSAC is carrying out our own membership engagement campaign under the We Are All Affected campaign. Our member-to-member education work is aligned with the CLC's efforts but it began last January, several months before the CLC embarked on a similar effort. In other words, we are already moving forward the CLC's campaign through our We Are All Affected campaign.

There will be a briefing of the NBoD on the PSAC's campaign progress in September. We can discuss then how to make even greater headway in connecting with our members through the fall and winter months.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact me as always.

In solidarity, Robyn Benson - National President
