New Online Course - Fighting for our Lives; Bill C-4 and Health and Safety

The Programs Section of the PSAC and the PSAC Education Program are launching an on-line version of the Fighting for our Lives; Bill C-4 and Health and Safety course. Visit  - http://psacunion.ca/online-learning  - to access it via the on-line learning section of the national website. It is anticipated the course will take 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and it is set up in such a way that you can leave the course and return to it as you choose or as time allows.

The objectives of the course:

  • To highlight the changes to Part II of the Canada Labour Code resulting from enactment of Bill C-4
  • To understand the political context from which Bill C-4 emerged
  • To try and determine the implication of the changes to the health and safety act (CLC Part II), on workers, workplace committees and on unions
  • To better understand what's next for Local's and for Health and Safety Committees, post Bill C-4

Though beneficial to, and open to all members, the course will be of most benefit to members of federally regulated workplaces that are legislated by the Canada Labour Code Part II.

Note: if you are not already registered for PSAC's on-line learning program, you will need to do so - the course will appear in the list of existing learning resources. The course is available on-line until May 4th.

We encourage all members who sit on Health & Safety Committees, Local Executive members, and Stewards to take this course - please share this information with members in your Local. We are also interested hearing from you.
