SSO members gear up for next round of bargaining

PSAC members at SSO strategize during their bargaining conference in Winnipeg, June 8 and 9, 2011.

PSAC members from across Canada working for Statistical Survey hammered out their bargaining priorities and mobilization strategies at their national bargaining conference in Winnipeg on June 8 and 9, 2011.

They also elected their bargaining team members who will represent them in the upcoming round of bargaining with the employer, which are slated to begin in the fall of this year.  Their collective agreements expire in November 2011.

Seniority rights, as they pertain to assignment of hours of work and to job security, placed high in the priority of demands for the delegates.  On top of these issues, the delegates also identified (among other things) classification and allowance for use of space and equipment as priority demands for field interviewers.

The FI delegates elected the following for their bargaining team:

  • Géraldine Fortin (Eastern Region)
  • Mary Anne Walker (Central Region)
  • Donna Henry (Western Region)

Alternates: Carole Bouchard (Eastern), Evelyn Beckert (Central) and Sharon Hazelwood (Western)

The RO delegates elected the following for their bargaining team:

  • Diane Labrecque (Eastern Region)
  • Réjean Amyotte (Central Region)
  • Anna Goldfield (Western Region)

Alternates:  Graham Reid (Eastern), Jennifer Wagnell (Central) and Shabbir Umarji (Western)

The bargaining teams will be meeting in August and September to finalize demands and strategies.
