After over twenty years as a PSAC Rep in the Vancouver Office, Regina Brennan has retired - here are a few photos!
Regina started her “career” as a union activist and PSAC member at Canada Post Corporation. She worked actively on behalf of the local and component over the years. She was also very involved in the feminist movement. She began her career at PSAC as a Regional Rep in the Vancouver Regional Office in 1991. At the time she had young children and trying to balance home and life was challenging.
Regina’s greatest pleasure as a Rep was her interaction with PSAC members. She enjoyed travelling to the Okanagan and Kootenays and visiting members in their workplaces. Thanks to the members at the Summerland Agricultural Station, she frequently brought fruit back to the office for others to enjoy. She was passionate about members’ rights.
Regina is well-known within BC’s labour movement as a facilitator, musician, activist, social justice advocate and feminist.
For a few years, she sang in and helped organize events for “Solidarity Notes”, a choir with members from a variety of unions and community organizations. As a member of the choir, she sang on many picket lines and at labour and social justice rallies.
Later in her career, Regina’s interest in labour history and love of music combined to create the PSAC’s first musical labour history workshop. Along with Earle Peach and Dan Keaton, she formed a musical group “The Diggers”. She spent hundreds of hours researching labour history and finding songs that spoke of various historical events and “The Diggers” performed those songs for PSAC members and other union members within BC.
Members in BC will miss Regina’s passion for social justice, love of music, love of labour history and dedication to defending the rights of workers.
