PSAC BC Mainland Human Rights Committee meeting and resolution writing workshop

The meeting will start at 6:00 PM with dinner at 5:30 PM.

• What to expect for resolution writing
• Instructions from the PSAC staff on how to draft effective resolutions
• Resolution writing - please bring with you resolutions that you would like to see put forward. We will allocate some time to draft resolutions if possible. would like to spend more time writing resolutions over brainstorming as we have deadlines to meet.

Deadlines:

BCFED Convention - The deadline for resolutions to the BCFED Convention is 11 am on Thursday, September 29, 2016 - Any resolution to be accepted must be submitted by the Executive Council or Executive Officers, or by an organization directly affiliated to the Federation, or by an affiliated organization as defined in Article 10, Section 3. Each resolution must be signed by the presiding officer and secretary of the body submitting it. A resolution shall not deal with more than one (1) subject, shall refer to the action which is proposed and shall contain no more than one hundred and fifty (150) words. For our purposes, Article 10, Section 3 = PSAC Locals. This means that the Committee can’t directly submit a resolution to the BCFED Convention. However, a HRC member could submit it through her/his own local if their Local is affiliated to the BCFED. The Local Executive should have already received their online link, usernames, and password from the BCFED for submitting resolutions to the BCFED Convention.

2. National Equity Conference - The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 30, 2016, 4:00 pm EST

3. BC Regional Convention - The deadline for resolutions is three (3) months prior to Convention which is scheduled for June 16-18 2017. Call out has to be not less than 4 months per Section 8 and shall include the final date for receipt of resolutions).
