Government of B.C. Workers' Compensation Review

The BC government is undertaking a formal and independent review of the workers' compensation system. This review will provide recommendations back to government on ways to improve the current system to better support injured workers and to increase the confidence of workers and employers in the system. The review is being led by retired labour lawyer Janet Patterson, who was appointed in April 2019.

The review will assess:

• the system’s policies and practices that support injured workers’ return to work;
• WorkSafeBC’s current policies and practices through a gender- and diversity-based analysis (commonly referred to as GBA +);
• modernization of WorkSafeBC’s culture to reflect a worker-centric service delivery model;
• the case management of injured workers; and
• any potential amendments to the Workers Compensation Act arising from this focused review.

PSAC BC encourages all members to share their views and take part in the public engagement. There are several ways to do this, including submitting written feedback online and in person at public hearings scheduled between June 14 and July 19 in the following communities:
