A group of protesters, including PSAC REVP Bob Jackson, Jim Sinclair, President of the BC Federation of Labour, and Dave Clark, RVP for the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, began a 24-hour sit-in protest at the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station at 5 p.m. on Friday September 14th, after the federal government ignored a report saying lives would be lost if the station is closed as planned.

The protesters recieved over 500 email messages of support, Solidarity, and encouragement during the 24 hour sit-in. The messages have all been compiled - check them out right here (.pdf).
