Instead of celebrating National Public Service Week, the PSAC Vancouver and Victoria Area Councils organized We Are All Affected baseball tournaments. Here are some photos!
Thanks to PSAC Vancouver Area Council President Jamey Mills for this report from the Vancouver event ...
On June 12 federal government workers from a diverse group of employers took to Douglas Park in Vancouver to play in the first ever PSAC Vancouver Area Council sponsored softball tournament. It almost seemed it wouldn't happen as the rain poured and a thunderstorm warning was issued. We huddled under cover until the weather let up. Our shoes were dampened but not our souls. Fun broke out everywhere!
The tournament saw the Canada Revenue Agency Eh! Team face the Department of Justice DoJers in the final, with the DoJers the ultimate victors. It was great to have 7 teams involved and many stopped by our table to discuss PSAC's We Are All Affected campaign and sign petitions. Many thanks to Kristy Foreman-Gear and Danielle Thomson for helping organize the event which resulted in a donation of over $350 to the Vancouver Food Bank. I would also like to thank the REVP for donating T-shirts as prizes.
We're already looking forward to next year and hoping to see many more PSAC members at the PSAC Vancouver BBQ August 10 at Trout Lake Park in Vancouver!
It may have been raining in Vancouver, but members from CRA, DFO, and DND in Victoria enjoyed sunny skies!
