The BC Federation of Labour is hiring 3 Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) facilitator coordinators to work in the BCFED OHS Centre. This is a great opportunity for people who have OHS facilitating experience in subject areas, such as OHS committees, mental health, bullying and harassment, OHS supervisor training and /or building a psychologically healthy workplace. PSAC statement on the Day of Mourning, April 28, 2018 On April 28, the Day of Mourning, we remember all those who have been killed or injured because of their work. Today we also commit to protect the living and ensure that we can prevent, and actively address, harassment and violence in the workplace.

The National Day of Mourning, held on April 28, was established to remember those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job. It also recognizes those who have worked tirelessly to prevent exposures, injuries and fatalities on the job and to celebrate their victories. 

The Canadian Mental Health Association is asking Canadians to GET LOUD for mental health. To GET LOUD means speaking out against the discrimination and stigma directed at people with mental illnesses. It means taking action and using your voice to raise awareness and build support for those around you and for yourself.

The federal government has announced its commitment to banning asbestos and asbestos-containing products by 2018. This is a long-awaited decision; PSAC has been calling on the federal government to ban the import, export and manufacturing of asbestos for years.

PSAC is taking the ongoing campaign to ban asbestos directly to the Prime Minister. National President Robyn Benson launched the union’s new ban asbestos postcard initiative during PSAC’s National Health and Safety conference in Montreal last weekend.
