Car Free Day in Vancouver - volunteers needed!

As we've done over the past few years, PSAC BC will be hosting info booths at community events across the province over the summer.  We'll be raising the profile of our union, talking to the public and other PSAC members about our work as federal public sector workers, the effects of the Phoenix pay system disaster, and our regional and national campaigns. These events are always fun, and are a great way to meet your fellow union members and members of the public.

The PSAC Vancouver and District Area Council is organizing our participation in Main Street Car Free Day in Vancouver on Sunday, June 16th.  This is a great opportunity for us to engage with the public to talk about the important work we do to provide public services to Canadians and to generate awareness of our Phoenix plight and the disrespect were seeing at the bargaining tables.  We will have a fun and engaging activity to bring people to the table and some swag, materials, and smiles to share.

We are in need of a number of volunteers to help out at the booth. There will be a PSAC staff person and other member volunteers also present so you won't be alone and are not expected to have answers for everything. We are looking for volunteers for one-hour blocks from 1:00 pm through til after 7:00 pm when the booth is taken down. If you are interested and available, please contact Todd Smith, Vancouver Area Council President, with your availability and questions at SmithT@psac-afpc.com.
