The CMHC Granville Island bargaining team, consisting of Tony Barrow, Sandy Scott, Steven Chen, Verda Cook, and Maxime Thibault-Gingras has declared impasse in negotiations with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation after the employer did not make progress towards addressing critical issues in negotiations for members working at Granville Island in Vancouver.

Friends, We are pleased to invite PSAC members in BC to participate in the 2021 BC Regional Health and Safety Conference being held on Friday March 19 to Sunday March 21 via Zoom. The conference is scheduled to begin at 1:00PM on Friday March 19 and will close at 12:00PM on Sunday, March 21. The theme for this conference is: Where Does the Employer’s Responsibility End and Ours Begin?

As part of the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence, the PSAC Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee launched the SOS: Supporting Our Sisters campaign, designed to assist women who are facing homelessness or require support through transition houses. Committee members gathered donations themselves and through their community networks and Locals (special thanks to Local 20937) and delivered them to women’s organizations in North Vancouver, Abbotsford, Surrey, and Vancouver’s Downtown East Side.

Thank you to the almost 200 PSAC BC women who responded to our COVID-19 and Women survey. We sincerely appreciate your openness in sharing of your experiences during this challenging time. The responses are being reviewed to best inform the BC Region’s women’s program for 2021.

This year has been challenging for everyone but especially so for women in vulnerable situations. As part of the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence, the PSAC Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee has initiated a campaign called SOS: Supporting Our Sisters which will help assist women who are facing homelessness or require support through transition houses during the holiday season.

On the 31st anniversary of the 1989 Montreal massacre and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women join PSAC in a End Violence Against Women Virtual Memorial, Sunday December 6th 5:00PM - 5:40PM This event is open to all. The CMHC Granville Island bargaining team, consisting of Tony Barrow, Sandy Scott, Steven Chen, Verda Cook, and Maxime Thibault-Gingras met remotely with the employer on June 2, 3, and 29 to continue bargaining the new collective agreement. The current agreement expired March 31, 2020. The team and the employer continued working through a significant amount of employer-side non-monetary proposals, many of which are housekeeping items that do not affect the substance of the collective agreement.
