On March 10, Vancouver City Council will debate a motion proposing to make Vancouver a Blue Community: committing to recognize water and sanitation as human rights, ban or phase-out the sale of bottled water in municipal facilities and at municipal events, and promote publicly financed, owned and operated water and wastewater services.

Almost 50 PSAC members from across the province gathered in Vancouver on Saturday at the 2020 Regional Conference for Racially Visible Members, which was held under the theme "Building our Power for Change: Equity for All”. It was a busy weekend: over two days the participants developed strategies to build partnerships, coalitions, and networks for advocacy; discussed ways to broaden the base of union activists from their communities; identified political priorities for PSAC racialized members; and contributed to the development of a PSAC policy to address systemic racism.

The CMHC Granville Island bargaining team, consisting of Tony Barrow, Sandy Scott, Steven Chen, Verda Cook, and Maxime Thibault-Gingras met with the employer February 18-20 in Vancouver to begin bargaining a new collective agreement. The current collective agreement expires March 31, 2020.

JP Fortin, national president of the Customs and Immigration Union along with members working at CBSA and the Correctional Service of Canada joined forces at a spirited rally and media event on February 5th at Peace Arch border crossing, reminding the government that PSAC members will continue to mobilize until we get a fair collective agreement.
