Over forty PSAC sisters attended the Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee International Women’s Day celebration and meeting in Vancouver, March 8th. Participants heard short presentations from Janet Routledge, NDP candidate in North Burnaby and former PSAC staff member; Joanne Hay, Union of Postal Communications Employees National Executive Officer; and Jennifer Chieh Ho and Kelly Sidhu, PSAC BC Regional Council members. They all spoke about the solidarity and support they get from fellow PSAC members every day, and how much it helps in their work with our union.

On Friday, February 24, PSAC will mark the first anniversary of Phoenix. We want to continue to draw attention to the Phoenix pay system and its problems and send a strong message to the Prime Minister and MPs that our members have been waiting for too long; fix the Phoenix pay problems and learn from your mistakes! Here are some ideas for how PSAC members can send a strong message to the government and our employers on February 24th.

Surrey - The Public Service Alliance of Canada is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Surrey on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.

The Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee is proud to support the work of Dress for Success, a community empowering women into the workforce by providing them with professional attire, career services, and skills development programs. Dress for Success Vancouver are hosting a fundraising luncheon, and the Vancouver Regional Women's Committee is sponsoring two half-price tickets to this event. The cost to PSAC members would be $50, members will also receive a charitable tax receipt for $50.

On August 8 the PSAC/UTE bargaining team resumed negotiations with the employer while members showed their support in worksites across the country. Together we let CRA management know that we expect a fair contract, and we are ready to stand together and take further action if we don’t see significant improvements at the bargaining table.Because it’s 2016, and four years is far too long to wait for a fair contract!
