To: PSAC Young Workers in BC,   Each year the BC Federation of Labour organizes a "Young Workers' School" at Camp Jubilee situated in Indian Arm in BC. It's a great opportunity to meet young workers from a whole bunch of different unions. There are workshops offered and time allotted to take part in some fun outdoor activities as well. This year it will be held from June 19 to 21, 2015. The School website is http://conference.bcfed.ca/jubilee/ check it out for more specific info.

What is the significance of May 1st/International Workers’ Day? In most other parts of the world May 1st is celebrated as Labour Day and is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the International Labour Movement, Anarchists, Socialists and Communists. On March 9th, just over 1,300 PSAC members in our Treasury Board units in BC participated in a live telephone town hall meeting with Robyn Benson, PSAC National President, Bob Jackson, PSAC BC's Regional Executive Vice-President, and Seth Sazant, Lead Negotiator at the TC Table. Robyn, Bob and Seth provided an update on bargaining with our Treasury Board units, talked about solidarity events, political action and the upcoming election, and took questions from PSAC members. In a referendum coming up in March, Metro Vancouver residents will be asked to vote on a 0.5 per cent hike in B.C.'s Provincial Sales Tax to improve public transit service. Our votes will approve or reject the Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council plan for more transit routes, more buses and HandyDART vans, more options and better routes for cyclists and drivers and better transportation options over the region.

Vancouver - The British Columbia Federation of Labour and the Public Service Alliance of Canada are sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Surrey on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.This year, December 6th marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.
