Vancouver – On December 13, the last government pay day before Christmas, federal public service workers in Vancouver are rallying to raise awareness about the Phoenix pay system and to call on the government to take the measures necessary to ensure they are paid correctly and on time. Date: Wednesday, December 13, 2017 Time: 12PM – 1PM Location: Harbour Centre, 555 West Hastings, Vancouver The Phoenix payroll system used by the federal government has been riddled with problems since it was rolled out in early 2016.

PSAC members who live in South Surrey-White Rock are reminded that by law, eligible electors must have three consecutive hours to cast their vote on election day. If your hours of work do not allow for three consecutive hours to vote, your employer must give you time off. Your employer has the right to decide when the time off will be given.

Surrey - The New Westminster and District Labour Council and the Public Service Alliance of Canada are sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Surrey on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. December 6th marks the anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal. Members of the public will gather to reflect on violence against women and collect donations for local women's organizations.
