Vancouver Regional Womens Committee update

Hello PSAC Vancouver Women

The minutes from our last meeting are now available. In addition, please see below for a little write up of what the Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee does.

We had an exciting year which included a kickoff for women on International Women’s Day at the old Spaghetti Factory, participation at convention – selling our pink hats and having our VRWC treasurer Kelly Sidhu elected as the BC PSAC Women’s Coordinator.  We reflected at the Stolen Sisters events across the province on October 4 and we were filled with pride when Ruby Langan, VRWC secretary, cohosted the downtown Vancouver event.  Our 2017 project was the Shoebox project as put forward by Jennifer Horsley and a lot of work and energy went into this initiative.

It was a wonderful way to come together in solidarity. It is to me the wonderful part of union.

We will finish the year with participation in the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women & the Sacred Water Ceremony. Jennifer Chieh Ho has organized the annual Dec 6 event at Holland Park in Surrey and BC Fed will be holding an educational in New Westminster. Giselle Henry has organized the December 10th Sacred Water Ceremony in Victoria.

To all of you - Thank you for a wonderful year.  Our committee wants you to know that whenever you are able to join us our door is always open.

Our annual general meeting will be January 17, 2018 at the PSAC office and we welcome you either in person or by phone.  If you ever want to know a little more about us, get involved, or have any suggestions/questions please feel free to call or email me.

It has been a pleasure chairing this year.

Happy December and wishing you special moments in the year ahead.

In solidarity

Kelly Megyesi
