Granville Island bargaining update - June 2020

The CMHC Granville Island bargaining team, consisting of Tony Barrow, Sandy Scott, Steven Chen, Verda Cook, and Maxime Thibault-Gingras met remotely with the employer on June 2, 3, and 29 to continue bargaining the new collective agreement. The current agreement expired March 31, 2020.

The team and the employer continued working through a significant amount of employer-side non-monetary proposals, many of which are housekeeping items that do not affect the substance of the collective agreement.

At the end of the meetings, the bargaining team sent a clear message to the employer that during the next round of bargaining, scheduled for September 15,16 and 17 management must come to the table prepared to address monetary issues, including a fair wage increase.

The Granville Island bargaining team greatly appreciate members' solidarity and support in their continuing effort to win a new and improved collective agreement.

Approximately 60 members of PSAC/UNE Local 20378 work on Granville Island, performing a wide variety of administrative, maintenance, and public outreach duties.
