PSAC and UCTE are happy to announce that a new collective agreement has been ratified by the members of UCTE Local 20221 who are employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority. The new contract, which expires in December 2022, includes a wage increase that recognizes the value of the work members perform at YVR, major improvements to short term sick leave, an increase to standby pay, improvements to the pay-out of  lieu days and compensatory leave, and language recognizing gender identity or expression as prohibited grounds of discrimination in the collective agreement.

Vancouver – Bargaining between Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) and the Vancouver Airport Authority have broken off and a Federal Conciliation Officer has been called in to help get a new contract. Key bargaining issues include wage rates, variable hours of work, protections against harassment and bullying, sick leave and medical benefits.

Our PSAC/UCTE Bargaining Team met  with the employer November 22-24, 29-30 and December 1, 2016.  While some progress was made during this time unfortunately it came to a halt on December 1st . The Team provided a comprehensive proposal that addressed all of the outstanding items including a fair monetary proposal that reflected the value of the work members perform at YVR. The employer chose not to respond and broke off bargaining. PSAC/UCTE will now apply for the assistance of a Federal Mediation Conciliation Officer.

The PSAC/UCTE bargaining team is meeting this week, October 18 and 19, with the employer. Our first two day session will include an exchange and walk-through the bargaining proposals from each party. The team has further meetings scheduled in November and December and discussions are ongoing regarding the essential services agreement. Your PSAC/UCTE team is looking forward to productive discussions resulting in a fair collective agreement that values the work of members at the airport. We will keep you up to date as the process unfolds.

Members of the two bargaining units of the Public Service Alliance of Canada/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees working at Swissport Canada Fuel Services at Vancouver International Airport have ratified new collective agreements, expiring in 2018. The bargaining teams would like to thank members for their support during a tough round of negotiations.
