A new Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives study entitled Waiting to Happen: Why we need major changes to the health and safety regime in federally regulated workplaces was released today. The study reveals that the health and safety of over a million workers in the federal government and other federally-regulated workplaces is at risk.

PSAC’s website now helps members connect with their local union representative. Find your local union contact and your collective agreement By choosing their employer, their job classification and the closest city to where they live, PSAC member can get phone and web contact information for their component or local as well as a link to their collective agreement.  The system is aimed at getting PSAC members answers to their questions about their job faster.

PSAC will be conducting a large poll of the membership as part of its ongoing process to ensure that your voices are heard and that your priorities are reflected in the work of our union.Environics Research Group, a well-known and respected polling firm, will be conducting the online survey for PSAC, asking questions about union priorities.

PSAC is happy to announce that a new Collective Agreement has been ratified by members of UCTE Local 20221, members employed directly by the Airport Authority.The new contract, which expires in December 2016 includes wage increases, an increase to the extended health plan, improvements to family related leave and improvements to language regarding casual part-time employees.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, representing workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority, are happy to announce that a tentative agreement has been achieved with the Vancouver Airport Authority. There will be no delays or labour disruptions at the airport.The tentative agreement was reached late Thursday night with the assistance of a federal mediator, after two days of eleventh-hour negotiations.

The Union representing workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority has served 72 hour strike notice at the airport.Job action could begin as soon as Friday, August 30.Approximately 300 members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees Local 20221 provide key services such as emergency response, international arrivals customer care, runway maintenance, airfield & approach lighting, passenger loading operations, maintenance and administrative services at the airport.

A possible strike could cause delays for travelers arriving or departing from VancouverAirportin the near future, as workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of job action.“Workers at the airport voted 83 percent in favour of strike action last week.” said Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive Vice President for BC, ”PSAC members are united behind their Bargaining Team and prepared to walk the picket line if necessary.”

Vancouver- Approximately 70 workers who fuel jet aircraft at Vancouver Airport have a new collective agreement.Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) / Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 20221 working at GlobeGround Fuel Services voted Tuesday to ratify a tentative agreement reached last week.The three-year contract, which expires in November 2015, provides wage and shift premium increases as well as improvements to the language around hours of work, overtime, seniority, and staffing.
