Vancouver- Approximately 70 workers who fuel jet aircraft at Vancouver Airport have a new collective agreement.
Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) / Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 20221 working at GlobeGround Fuel Services voted Tuesday to ratify a tentative agreement reached last week.
The three-year contract, which expires in November 2015, provides wage and shift premium increases as well as improvements to the language around hours of work, overtime, seniority, and staffing.
“I’d like to thank the bargaining team for their work on behalf of PSAC members working at GlobeGround,” said Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for BC, “and I’d like to thank our members – their support of the team during this round of bargaining was crucial, and confirmed their confidence in the team and in our union.”
PSAC/UCTE also represents workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority, providing key services such as emergency response, international arrivals customer care, runway maintenance, airfield & approach lighting, passenger loading operations, maintenance and administrative services.
Negotiations between this group and the airport are currently at an impasse.
