Resistance, Refugees, Rights and Return: REPORTBACK FROM THE VANCOUVER DELEGATION TO GAZA

July 22, 2012
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Room 1700, Simon Fraser University Harbour Centre, 515 W. Hastings St, Vancouver, BC (Map)
Resistance, Refugees, Rights and Return, the Vancouver Delegation to Gaza, composed of 9 Vancouver-based activists, traveled to Gaza in June 2012. As part of our delegation, we met with health work, refugee rights, BDS, women's, students, labour and youth organizations with a goal of building links between progressive movements here and the Palestinian revolutionary left. Read delegates reports' at Vancouver2Gaza and This Tiny Globe.

The delegation worked to foster people-to-people solidarity between the participants, activists organizing for justice in Palestine and engaged in decolonization, international solidarity, and other relevant organizing to witness the impact of occupation and colonization, and the Palestinian liberation movement, making personal connections and building links with organizations on the left in Palestine. Delegates observed the ongoing resistance of the Palestinian people, assessed concrete solidarity needs on the ground, and the Palestinian people's commitment to liberate their land and achieve the rights they have been denied for over 64 years.

Come hear the delegates' experiences, and the voices of those with whom they met and built ties, and discuss how we can build upon and develop organizing strategies to challenge Canadian complicity in the dispossession, oppression and occupation of Palestinian people and land.
