Young Workers Caucus Film Night

July 21, 2011
6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
PSAC Vancouver RO - 5238 Joyce Street, Vancouver, BC (Map)

Hi all! What would be an awesome way to spend a summery Thursday night? A film night!

We hope we'll see you in several weeks at our Young Worker Film Night on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 6:30 pm. This event will be held at the PSAC Vancouver Regional Office, on the 3rd floor, #300-5238 Joyce Street, in Vancouver.

We will eat and chat first, so come for an opportunity to network with other PSAC young workers from a variety of workplaces. After that we'll listen to a great presentation, given by one of our own young workers caucus members and watch Made in Dageham by Nigel Cole.

Our event poster designer, Robin Dhaliwal, also one of our caucus members, recommends this funny, dramatic, and yet inspiring British movie based on a true story---a strike at a factory in the sixties, where the women there fought for equal pay.

If you want to read more about the film before you watch it, go to the synopsis from the Toronto International Film Festival

Our guest speaker, Kara Wieler, will be sharing her experience as the PSAC-BC Region delegate to the 2nd Annual Rebelles Gathering held in Winnipeg, MB. Kara joined several other PSAC delegates from across the country to learn about feminism in today's society and is eager to share with other PSAC members the issues that young women are facing every day. Some of the main issues involves Women's Rights/Equality, Fighting Racism and Violence Against Women. There will be a Q&A period to follow the presentation.

Let us know if you're planning on coming so we can make sure there is plenty of food!

Please RSVP to Erica Yang via e-mail by July 18th, 2011. There's a poster below you can share with other Young Workers.

See you there !

In Solidarity,
Erica Yang
