Sisters and Brothers,
Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is critical to building a healthy, respectful workplace where new ideas and different ways of working can spur innovation, increase productivity and deliver better results for Canadians.
The Joint Union/Management Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion, launched in the fall is examining diversity and inclusion in the public service. Its mandate is to define and establish the case for diversity and inclusion in the public service and to recommend a framework and action plan.
To help inform its work, the Joint Task Force is seeking opinions, ideas and experiences from employees on the factors that contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace as well as barriers to it. This input will contribute to the final report to be published in fall 2017.
I invite you to have your say on diversity and inclusion by participating in the online consultation that will be open from April 24 through May 31. The questionnaire contains 5 questions and will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. If you require an alternative format (e.g. paper copy), please send your request to the Diversity and Inclusion/Diversité et Inclusion electronic mailbox.
Your views matter on this very important discussion will make a real difference. I encourage all of you to contribute and help build a stronger public service.
In Solidarity,
Bob Jackson
