Without Us You’d Still Be Lost: Search and Rescue Aircraft Maintainers Rally for New Contract

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 13, 2017

COMOX, BC – Members of the Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE) Local 21018, a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), who are employed by IMP Group International Inc. (IMP), will be rallying at the main gate of CFB Comox on Tuesday February 14th at 6:30AM

Union members will be rallying to highlight the fact that they have been without a contract since July 2015 and to put pressure on the employer to bring improvements to the bargaining table.

  • WHEN: Tuesday, February 14, 6:30AM
  • WHERE: Main gate, Canadian Forces Base Comox

The collective agreement for 50 workers at IMP in Comox expired on June 30, 2015. The main issues focus around fixing the wage gap, improving sick leave, maintaining the current 40 hour work schedule and fairly assigning the work.

PSAC/UNDE members at IMP provide valuable work in ensuring that search and rescue aircraft are well maintained and safe to be used in rescue missions. Without their work, the safety of the aircrafts and its missions would be in jeopardy.
