The Fraser Valley Labour Council, is offering two workshops on Drug and Alcohol Absenteeism and Bullying in the Workplace. Lunch will be provided.
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
Courses can be taken consecutively or individually.
The Drug and Alcohol Absenteeism workshop will cover the fundamentals of the law surrounding absenteeism, with particular focus on the special circumstances of addicted workers. In addition, it will touch on leading case law with respect to the distinction between culpable and non-culpable absenteeism, the requirements to establish a prima facie case of fitness for work and types of evidence the employer may use to rebut the presumption of fitness.
The Bullying in the Workplace workshop will cover, what bullying is and is not, and most important “The causes of bullying”. We will cover how to address the behaviour through our collective agreements, employer policy and legislation. We look and see what WCB policies have been enacted and how they should be implemented at your workplace. A quick case study video as well as a workplace bullying report and a check list of what you should be looking at in your workplace.
