To: PSAC Locals and Activists in BC, via email.
Sisters and Brothers,
It’s that time of year again: summer has turned to fall and the 2016 Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC) has just launched.
The GCWCC is the largest workplace charitable campaign in Canada. It is also one of the most successful, thanks to the generosity of members who work in the federal public service.
When PSAC members give to United Way, we are making a statement: we are saying that we believe in a healthy, caring, inclusive community for all.
Here in the Lower Mainland (which now includes the Fraser Valley) federal government workers raised over $1.23 million for the United Way last year, which contributed towards the United Way being able to help over 340,000 people.
Campaigns in Victoria and other communities across the province are equally successful and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
I have been involved with the United Way, in one form or another, throughout my entire career in the public service and the PSAC. I have had the privilege and opportunity to meet many people who have been helped by money that we raise and see first-hand the positive impact on their lives. The United Way touches our communities in many ways, and I know many of you have seen this as well.
I encourage all members to give what you can to the 2016 Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. Together, we make a huge difference and we will continue to help others through our contributions.
Let’s make the 2016 campaign the most successful to date!
In Solidarity,
Bob Jackson
Regional Executive Vice-President
