Participant and Volunteer Information National Day of Mourning – April 28, 2017 – Victoria, BC
MEMORIAL PROCESSION
The memorial procession will begin on Humboldt St. behind the Victoria Conference Centre, head west to Government St. and north to the BC Legislature.
The route is approximately 550 m long (10 min walk)—please see the attached map for more information. The roads will not be barricaded. The police will maintain a rolling road closure along the procession route.
Coordinators and marshals will be wearing high visibility vests and will be available to answer questions and provide instruction during the procession.
The caskets will be placed in a designated area at the BC Legislature—please follow the direction of the marshals.
To participate in the memorial procession, please follow the instructions below. Please allow ample time to find parking—see parking information below.
CEREMONY
The ceremony will be held in front of the BC Legislature building once the entire procession reaches the grounds. Those not participating in the procession can muster at this location. The ceremony will be emceed by Mike Eso, President of the Victoria Labour Council and will include brief speeches from the following:

Please note that the Victoria Conference Center will not be providing parking for the Day of Mourning event. Please allow ample time to find parking.
