June 20 to 29, 2014 marks the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Commemorating Stonewall and other historic achievements in the struggle for GLBT rights, PSAC members are organizing and participating in Pride celebrations and events across the country. This year, several PSAC members are also attending WorldPride 2014 and the WorldPride Human Rights Conference in Toronto.

May 17, or the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia—as it is widely recognised—is an essential feature in the international LGBT rights calendar. In the 9th edition, in 2013, commemorations took place in almost 120 countries, in all world regions.

Dear PSAC members in BC,The World Pride Human Rights Conference is being held from June 25-27, 2014 in Toronto, in conjunction with the World Pride Celebrations, also taking place in the city. PSAC is sending a delegation to the Conference, including members from BC, who will be fully funded to represent PSAC’s GLBT community.

Over the next few months, members and allies of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community will celebrate their identities and the great victories of the last 20 years.The PSAC is proud of the victories that we have won through collective bargaining, litigation and mobilization for GLBT members. Together, we will overcome the many obstacles that remain to real equality and justice for all.

Let's make 2013 Victoria Pride Parade the biggest PSAC participation that the island has ever seen!The Vancouver Island Human Rights Committee would like to invite all Locals and PSAC members on Vancouver Island to march together as a PSAC convoy in the upcoming Victoria Pride Parade July 7, 2013. In the past years, we have marched behind multi-union convoys but we would like to encourage more PSAC locals and committees to come out, show support and march together.

May 17 is the International Day against Homophobia. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) stands in solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.Respect in the workplace is essential. PSAC is there to support our members who face the hostility, homophobia or transphobia that can sometimes occur in the workplace. We are also engaged in bargaining collective agreements that meet the particular needs of our GLBT members. And we continue to work to better protect the human rights of transgendered people.

November 20 marks Trans Day of Remembrance. On this day, we remember our transgender and transexual brothers and sisters who have suffered, and continue to suffer, from violence, hatred and discrimination in our communities and in our workplaces

November 20 marks the Trans Day of Remembrance. Transgender and transsexual people are often victims of discrimination, harassment and violence in the workplace, in their communities and at school. This day gives us a chance to mourn losses and fight for change.
