1-Day Steward Training

Calling all Stewards and Chief Stewards … the BC Region is holding one day of Steward Training on September 13, 2015.

The theme is “Building the Union Through Steward Work”. By the end of the Steward Training participants will:

  • Know the critical role that Stewards play in building the union
  • Know what their circle of influence is and how to expand it
  • Be able to proactively involve the members in their local union
  • Be able to build solidarity within their local, workplace and community around emerging issues
  • Feel more confident and comfortable with talking with members about their needs, issues

The purpose of this training is to improve Stewards’ skills in the areas of mobilizing/organizing members and communicating with members in their locals. This training will build on the previous member to member engagement from the We Are All Affected campaign and will help Stewards discuss the current federal election with members in their locals.

This training is open to any Steward or Chief Steward from any local in BC. We are anticipating approximately 50-60 participants will attend.

For participants more than 60 kms from the venue, the PSAC will cover loss of salary, transportation, hotel, meal allowance and incidentals in accordance with the PSAC Travel Policy. Participants 60 kms or less from the venue will receive the $50 Weekend Education Allowance and the PSAC will cover loss of salary in accordance with our policy.

Family care expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the PSAC’s Family Care Policy.
