Please join us for a briefing on $10aDay implementation options with special guest Katrina Chen, Minister of State for Child Care.

About the event: After years of hard work by communities, BC is now poised to solve the child care chaos and begin building the child care system that BC families need and want. This is a huge achievement and we wouldn’t be here without your steadfast support!

But — given the disappointing lack of action in the recent Budget Update — it is clear that our collective work is far from done. We need to ensure that leading up to the February budget, government's first steps move us in the right direction - away from the current chaos and towards a quality, affordable, accessible system.

The Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC and the Early Childhood Educators of BC are proposing concrete options that allow government to begin fulfilling their platform commitments. These options are based on the evidence about what works and align key elements of the NDP and Green platforms. They reject old, failed approaches like BC’s child care subsidy system. Instead, they are designed to begin:

  • Delivering tangible benefits to families
  • Providing new accountable operating funds to licensed programs
  • Offering immediate support to Early Childhood Educators
  • Addressing longer term issues of spaces, quality and workforce development

We are inviting you, as a Plan supporter, to a Briefing Session to hear about and discuss these implementation options. We trust that, through this discussion, we will build a common voice to government as they move forward. Katrina Chen, the Minister of State for Child Care will be opening the event in the morning.

Please RSVP online to let us know you're coming. If you are unable to attend, please pass this invitation on to someone in your organization who shares your commitment to and support for the $10aDay Plan. Now, it is even more important to stay connected and involved.
