Women in Film and TV Vancouverannounced their most diverse programme ever for the 8th Annual Vancouver International Women In Film Festival with a selection of international, Canadian and local films. Highlights include three World Premieres:
- The feature Little Black Spiders (Belgium) Director: Antonino Lombardo. Based on a true story set in a hospital attic where pregnant teenage girls wait to have their babies in secret.
- The ShortA Broken Tear (Lebanon) Director: Krystle Houiess. A moving coming of age story about a blossoming young love remembered through shattered memories repeated in a spiral caused by Alzheimer’s.
- The local short The Stolen (BC) Director: Karen Lam. A haunting short film about a young girl who frees a boy from the clutches of her bullying brother.
Another highlight is the locally produced Vancouverpremiere ofSilent Music (USA).Directed by Melissa Gomez, the feature documentary follows a hearing daughter of deaf parents who live in the Caribbeanparadise of Antigua.
