Grant's Law Sit In - May 25

Grant’s Law was put in place to safeguard our exposed and vulnerable late night workers who often work alone and exposed to higher rates of violence in the workplace. These workers are very often young workers as well, starting out in their careers in the workforce.

Let's not take for granted those who came before us and paid the ultimate price to bring to light the lacking safeguards for our late night workers.  If you are able to, show your support by attending the annual Grant's Law Sit in at the Mac's Convenience Store 2601 Commercial Dr. Vancouver anytime from 8:00PM Saturday, May 25 to 6:00 AM Sunday, May 26. Let’s send the government the message that we need to return to the former protections for late night workers and ensure our late night workers get home to their loved ones safely.  Let's not let our sisters, brothers and friends be exposed to further risk of violence in the workplace.  Restore Grants Law today!!

The BC Federation of Labour YW Standing Committee has advocated tirelessly for this cause and has been successful in having a plaque created to memorialize Grant’s Law.  If you are in the Maple Ridge area on June 1st, 2019 from 11:00am - 12:00pm, please come stop in at the Grant's Law Plaque Unveiling to honour this young workers life and continue the fight for all late night workers and their safety.  

Everyone deserves to come home after work; let's make sure we continue this fight.
