Unions to target Conservative MPs with narrow election wins over Coast Guard closures

VICTORIA- The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women's Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil in Victoria on December 6^th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.

Members of the public will gather to reflect on violence against women, call upon the federal government to announce a national action plan to deal with all forms of violence against women, and collect donations for local women's organizations.

After 138 days of hearings, 179 witnesses, and a review of over 3 million pages of documents, the Commission of Inquiry into the Decline of Sockeye Salmon in the Fraser River submitted its final report on October 29^th 2012. The government tabled the report in the House of Commons on October 31^st.

VANCOUVER, Sept. 26, 2012 /CNW/ - The recent recall of ground beef products due to E. coli contamination confirms the public's concern about cuts to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, according to the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

In a recent telephone survey of 1,035 British Columbia residents 68% of respondents opposed reductions in staff responsible for food safety at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, including 48% strongly opposed and just 16% in favour, with 15% undecided.
