WAVAW'S December 6th Event

December 6, 2019
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
312 Main Street, Vancouver, BC (Map)

Join Women Against Violence Against Women and the community on December 6th to honour the 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, who, in 1989, a gunman murdered because of their gender. The shocking impact of their deaths led Parliament to designate December 6 as a National Day of Remembrance. Thirty years later, the effects of this tragedy continue to be felt and women and all people of marginalized genders remain targets because of their gender. As well as commemorating the 14 young women whose lives ended in an act of gender-based violence that shocked the nation, December 6 represents an opportunity for Canadians to reflect on the fact that women, and trans, nonbinary, and Two-Spirit people in Canada, and around the world, continue to face disproportionate levels of violence every day.
