Our union, along with concerned Canadians in communities across the country, has been working hard to save public services and protect jobs. We are all affected by cuts to services, and we must all take action to defend the public services PSAC members provide to Canadians.

PSAC members rallied in Quebec City this afternoon to stand up for collective bargaining rights and oppose the federal Conservative government's unilateral action against sick leave benefits.

PSAC has been in the media a fair amount over the past couple of days with reaction to the government's announcement that it plans to eliminate the existing sick leave provisions for federal public service workers, whether or not an agreement is reached at the bargaining table. Sisters and Brothers,   The 44th International Convention of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) will be held in Chicago Illinois at the Hyatt Regency May 20-25, 2015.  The theme of the Convention is Owning Our Future-Building Our Community.  More information can be found at the following link http://www.cbtu.org/.   PSAC will be sponsoring two members who are activists and members of CBTU to attend the Convention.

What is the significance of May 1st/International Workers’ Day? In most other parts of the world May 1st is celebrated as Labour Day and is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the International Labour Movement, Anarchists, Socialists and Communists.
