Many thanks to Giselle Henry, Aboriginal Coordinator on the PSAC BC Regional Council, who has volunteered to prepare a monthly listing of community events - many of which are related to Indigenous issues - from around the province that may be of interest to PSAC members. Here's the event listing for September.Prince Rupert

Friends, Sisters, Brothers, Local Presidents and Executive members, I encourage you to consider affiliating your Local to the District Labour Council (DLC) in your area. Joining a DLC provides a valuable opportunity for PSAC members to gather with fellow union members to exchange information, extend mutual support, and represent the interests of working people in your community.

The Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee is proud to support the work of Dress for Success, a community empowering women into the workforce by providing them with professional attire, career services, and skills development programs. Dress for Success Vancouver are hosting a fundraising luncheon, and the Vancouver Regional Women's Committee is sponsoring two half-price tickets to this event. The cost to PSAC members would be $50, members will also receive a charitable tax receipt for $50.

To: PSAC Locals and Activists in BC, via email. Sisters and Brothers, It’s that time of year again: summer has turned to fall and the 2016 Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC) has just launched. The GCWCC is the largest workplace charitable campaign in Canada. It is also one of the most successful, thanks to the generosity of members who work in the federal public service. When PSAC members give to United Way, we are making a statement: we are saying that we believe in a healthy, caring, inclusive community for all.

We recently received this via email from Sharon Bull (President of PSAC/USGE Local 20070, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, North District and member of the PSAC BC Mainland & Haida Gwaii Young Worker's Committee). We thought it well worth sharing.
