As the year-end draws near, PSAC is demanding the government take immediate action to exempt public service workers they have mistakenly overpaid, from being forced to pay back the gross amount.

Vancouver – On December 13, the last government pay day before Christmas, federal public service workers in Vancouver are rallying to raise awareness about the Phoenix pay system and to call on the government to take the measures necessary to ensure they are paid correctly and on time.

The Phoenix payroll system used by the federal government has been riddled with problems since it was rolled out in early 2016.

Vancouver – Members of the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be demonstrating in support of ongoing national bargaining efforts toward a new collective agreement for members of the FB group (Border Services) on Thursday December 14, 2017, starting at 11AM, at the Peace Arch border crossing.

CUPE Local 338 members who work as jail guards at the Kelowna RCMP detachment have served strike notice. The 17 workers, employed on a contract basis by Commissionaires BC, are paid less than other workers in comparable positions. Commissionaires make, at minimum, five dollars less per hour than other municipal jail guards in nearby and similar sized communities.
