Do you know a PSAC activist who deserves recognition for their work in the union? The B.C. Regional Council Honours & Awards Committee is proud to put out a call for nominations for PSAC BC’s Solidarity Excellence Awards. The award will recognize members of the BC Region who have rendered service of the greatest distinction and of singular excellence in any field of endeavour, benefiting the PSAC or its members.

Victoria - The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Point Park in Victoria on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. December 6th marks the anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal. Members of the public will gather to reflect on violence against women and collect donations for local women's organizations.

On September 27th the Vancouver Island Young Worker Committee elected new leadership and executive members to take the committee forward into 2019 and beyond. Please welcome the revamped and new executive members to the committee and stay tuned for initiatives from your Vancouver Island Young Worker committee going forward.

Dear PSAC member, Your vote matters! BC’s municipal and local government elections coming up on October 20th offer a chance for local residents to determine the future of their communities. As we have done in the past, the Public Service Alliance of Canada is participating in the Stronger Communities Together campaign, which is coordinated by the Canadian Labour Congress and affiliated unions.

The application deadline is October 5, 2018. Applications received after this date will be placed on a wait list according to the date and time received and considered for any remaining seats.

Nanaimo, BC – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada will gather near the Service Canada Office on Front Street to call to Justin Trudeau and Cabinet Ministers to make sure federal public service workers get paid correctly and on time.

On July 8th, an enthusiastic and colourful group of PSAC members in Victoria celebrated Pride and raised awareness about the discriminatory one year ban on blood donation by gay and trans people. Please take a moment to sign the petition calling on the government of Canada to repeal the ban. Here are some photos ...

On Friday, June 15, the Victoria Area Council held their annual Slow Pitch Tournament as a member-planned and organized event during the National Public Service Week. The tournament was a huge success with around 60 members participating with along with cheering family members. There were four team that participated from UTE, UTE/PIPSC, UNDE/CEIU and GSU.

Members of the Vancouver Island Human Rights Committee, the North Vancouver Island Area Council, REVP Jamey Mills, and Alternate REVP Todd Smith gathered in Nanaimo on June 10 to walk in the Nanaimo Pride Parade. Participants came together to celebrate Pride, Diversity and Inclusion, and handed out postcards to bring awareness to the Gay and Trans blood ban in Canada.
