Kamloops – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, including federal government workers from Service Canada, Corrections Canada, RCMP civilian staff, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Environment Canada are gathering in Riverside Park to meet with candidates in the upcoming federal election to hear from them about their party’s plan for federal public services.

VICTORIA – A group of Canadian veterans and advocates will gather in Victoria on August 25th, to demand that federal election candidates re-open Veterans Affairs offices and restore funding to important veterans’ services. Veterans say they feel abandoned by the Conservative government since it closed nine Veterans Affairs offices across Canada in 2013 and 2014. This spring, the Public Service Alliance of Canada released a series of video testimonials documenting the impact of the office closures on the lives of veterans with complex medical needs.

Musqueam Territory – Vancouver, British Columbia – Yesterday, representatives from the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) celebrated the ratification of their collective agreements after two years of negotiations. These agreements were reached on March 27, 2015 and May 28, 2015, respectively, and mark a historic milestone for the three parties as the first collective agreements of their kind in Canada.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada is today launching a nationwide campaign to remind Canadians about the impact of cuts to public services before they vote in the federal election. At the 2015 PSAC national convention, delegates directed the union to campaign and raise public awareness about the impact of cuts to public services by the Harper Conservatives.

Federal workers across Canada have been holding actions during National Public Service Week, calling on the government to respect the constitutional rights of federal employees.

Members of the Customs and Immigration Union, the Component Union of the Public Service Alliance of Canada that represents over 1,600 workers at the Canadian Border Services Agency in BC, are travelling from locations across the Lower Mainland and Southern Interior to leaflet and rally against Bill C-59 on Thursday, June 4 at 10 AM at Deltaport. PSAC/CIU members working at CBSA are holding actions across Canada on June 4, calling on the government to respect the constitutional rights of federal employees.

Victoria - The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Victoria on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.This year, December 6th marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.  The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee and the City of Victoria will unveil a permanent memorial to their memory.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, representing workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority, are happy to announce that a tentative agreement has been achieved with the Vancouver Airport Authority. There will be no delays or labour disruptions at the airport.The tentative agreement was reached late Thursday night with the assistance of a federal mediator, after two days of eleventh-hour negotiations.
