The Union representing workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority has served 72 hour strike notice at the airport.Job action could begin as soon as Friday, August 30.Approximately 300 members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees Local 20221 provide key services such as emergency response, international arrivals customer care, runway maintenance, airfield & approach lighting, passenger loading operations, maintenance and administrative services at the airport.

A possible strike could cause delays for travelers arriving or departing from VancouverAirportin the near future, as workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)/Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of job action.“Workers at the airport voted 83 percent in favour of strike action last week.” said Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive Vice President for BC, ”PSAC members are united behind their Bargaining Team and prepared to walk the picket line if necessary.”

Vancouver- Approximately 70 workers who fuel jet aircraft at Vancouver Airport have a new collective agreement.Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) / Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 20221 working at GlobeGround Fuel Services voted Tuesday to ratify a tentative agreement reached last week.The three-year contract, which expires in November 2015, provides wage and shift premium increases as well as improvements to the language around hours of work, overtime, seniority, and staffing.

A tentative agreement was reached June 27th, 2013, between the PSAC and Purolator Inc. The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by both parties. The PSAC bargaining team strongly recommends voting yes for this new agreement.  Federal budget missed opportunity for the economy and services(Ottawa) The union representing most federal government workers in Canada says that Federal Budget 2013 is a missed opportunity for the economy and services."We called on the government to recognize that austerity has hurt Canadians and the economy and that it's time to reverse cuts and invest in and restore federal government services," said PSAC national president Robyn Benson.

Prince George, BC– The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) are pleased to announce a new collective agreement has been ratified by both parties.Prince George Airport Authority President and CEO John Gibson says “the PGAA and our local staff have a great working relationship and that is why we were able to get an agreement prior to the expiry of the existing agreement.”
