Treasury Board

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Treasury Board units and Parks National Bargaining Conferences

PSAC members won an important victory today in defence of collective bargaining. The government tried but failed to circumvent the bargaining process by forcing FB members to vote on an offer that was not agreed to at the bargaining table.

After more than two years of protracted and often difficult negotiations, your TC Bargaining Team reached a tentative agreement with Treasury Board on August 1st. Here in BC, the ratification process will take place August 19th through September 18th, and we expect to announce the results of the vote on September 19th.

After more than two years of protracted and often difficult negotiations, the TC Bargaining Team has reached a tentative agreement with Treasury Board.The Memorandum of Settlement was signed at 4:20 AM on August 1st, after a marathon 18-hour bargaining session.If ratified by the membership, the new Collective Agreement will be retroactive to June 22, 2011, and will expire on June 21, 2014.

Last year, the PSAC along with other unions at the National Joint Council negotiated some improvements to the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP). An agreement was reached between the NJC unions, Treasury Board and other employer representatives to help bring the PSHCP in line with other similar health care plans. The employer has now come back to the table and is asking for two major concessions in return for implementing the deal that they had already agreed to.

Union of Solicitor General Employees Local 20011 (RCMP) was one of the first Locals in BC to take our We Are All Affected campaigner training. The Local Executive members then decided to host a table at the new E Division Headquarters building in Surrey during National Public Services week. The Local's display and information on our PSAC member-to-member campaign appears to have been more popular than the employer's offering!

On Wednesday June 5th the Public Interest Commission released its recommendation concerning our negotiations with CBSA/Treasury Board.  Early the morning of Friday the 7th the FB Bargaining Team issued a statement reiterating that the union is ready to negotiate.  Later that same day the PSAC was notified that, at CBSA and Treasury Board's request, the government is forcing a vote of the employer's recent-most final offer, to be administered by the Labour Board.

On Wednesday (June 5th) we received the Public Interest Commission (PIC) recommendation concerning our contract dispute with Treasury Board/CBSA.  The PIC recommendation is non-binding.  It is intended to guide the parties in negotiations and help provide an avenue for the parties to make progress towards an agreement.  Copy of the PIC's recommendation.
