Our union, along with concerned Canadians in communities across the country, has been working hard to save public services and protect jobs. We are all affected by cuts to services, and we must all take action to defend the public services PSAC members provide to Canadians.

PSAC members rallied at Harbour Centre in Vancouver on December 13 2017, calling on the government to take the measures necessary to ensure workers are paid correctly and on time. Members sang a few Christmas Carols (Jingle bells, Phoenix smells!) and heard from members who have been directly affected by problems with the pay system.

Members of the Customs and Immigration Union and the Public Service Alliance of Canada demonstrated at the Peace Arch border crossing in support of ongoing national bargaining efforts toward a new collective agreement for members of the FB group on Thursday December 14.

As the year-end draws near, PSAC is demanding the government take immediate action to exempt public service workers they have mistakenly overpaid, from being forced to pay back the gross amount.

Vancouver – On December 13, the last government pay day before Christmas, federal public service workers in Vancouver are rallying to raise awareness about the Phoenix pay system and to call on the government to take the measures necessary to ensure they are paid correctly and on time. Date: Wednesday, December 13, 2017 Time: 12PM – 1PM Location: Harbour Centre, 555 West Hastings, Vancouver The Phoenix payroll system used by the federal government has been riddled with problems since it was rolled out in early 2016.

This week, over 300 activists will gather in Ottawa for the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s triennial National Leadership Training. As part of this event, some of these activists will meet with Members of Parliament about the federal public service pay system.“PSAC activists will bring the stories of our members to Parliament Hill so that MPs don’t lose sight of the impact the Phoenix debacle is having on the personal lives of federal public service workers,” said PSAC National President Robyn Benson.

Surrey – Federal public service workers at the RCMP divisional headquarters in Surrey will gather on November 23 at a rally to raise awareness about the Phoenix pay system and call on the government to take the measures necessary to ensure they are paid correctly and on time.
