Our union, along with concerned Canadians in communities across the country, has been working hard to save public services and protect jobs. We are all affected by cuts to services, and we must all take action to defend the public services PSAC members provide to Canadians.

As the second anniversary of the launch of the Phoenix pay system approaches, 17 unions representing over 225,000 federal public service workers have sent a joint letter of demands to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The unions are asking the Prime Minister to deliver a plan to work with federal government employees to rebuild a payroll system that will pay them accurately and on time – every time.

The Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board has declared that the federal government has violated its obligations under the law by failing to meet the implementation deadline for the PA, SV, TC and EB collective agreements.

PSAC has written the President of the Treasury Board requesting a remission order to protect federal public service workers who have been subject to overpayment errors by Phoenix. This would provide all federal public service workers who received overpayments an exemption from repaying the gross amount – which is more than what they received

Hello fellow PSAC members, I met with Randall Garrison, Member of Parliament for Esquimalt—Saanich—Sooke, on January 16th. Randall has committed to assisting PSAC members in his riding to the best of his abilities on the Phoenix issue. He has committed to working with me as the PSAC Vancouver Island Coordinator. In order to help raise public awareness and support, Randall would like to have examples of the Phoenix pay issues that his constituents have been experiencing.

PSAC has scheduled training for pay advocates, normally local officers or stewards, that have been assisting members with Phoenix issues. This training will provide information and training on tools specifically for assisting those with pay issues.  It will also provide information on our key objectives in pressuring the government to address and resolve Phoenix.  Objectives of the 1-day course include
