Our union, along with concerned Canadians in communities across the country, has been working hard to save public services and protect jobs. We are all affected by cuts to services, and we must all take action to defend the public services PSAC members provide to Canadians.

Dear PSAC member, Your vote matters! BC’s municipal and local government elections coming up on October 20th offer a chance for local residents to determine the future of their communities. As we have done in the past, the Public Service Alliance of Canada is participating in the Stronger Communities Together campaign, which is coordinated by the Canadian Labour Congress and affiliated unions.

For several years, the Phoenix payroll system has not only disrupted our members’ pay, but it has also been collecting incorrect amounts of membership dues. Nearly 150,000 workers have been affected by this issue. After a lengthy delay, the government has brought changes to its system that allow for the correct amount in dues to be paid. The Phoenix pay system has been a disaster for our members. Members have been underpaid, overpaid and not paid at all. Learn more about what the union has been doing to get this fixed. Not deducting union dues correctly is one more way that Phoenix has failed public sector workers. You can help us push the government to pay public sector workers correctly, every pay day.

Friends, The planning and organizing work for an October 31st rally in downtown Vancouver will get underway soon. PSAC members will let the government know it's time to end the Phoenix disaster and negotiate a collective agreement that recognizes the value of our work and the importance of the services you provide to Canadians.

PSAC's Treasury Board bargaining teams, representing nearly 100,000 members in the PA, TC, SV and EB groups will be at the negotiating table the week of October 8 2018. Here are the highlights from the major demands put forward at the common issues bargaining table. Addressing phoenix: To prevent another tragedy like Phoenix from ever happening again, PSAC is demanding greater consultation with the union before any technological changes are put in place affecting members.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is launching a national television ad campaign to highlight the dedication of public service workers throughout the Phoenix pay system disaster, which has now been going on for two and a half years. Despite missed paycheques, fending off debt collectors, and managing endless uncertainty, PSAC members have continued to be here for Canada.

PSAC members and allies took action during the Liberal Cabinet meeting in Nanaimo on August 22nd. Approximately 150 members, along with PSAC National President Chris Aylward and Regional Executive VP Jamey Mills gathered at a rally outside the Service Canada office on Front Street, then marched to the meeting to loudly deliver an in-person message to the Justin Trudeau and his Ministers. For more than two years, over 200,000 federal public service workers have suffered because of the Phoenix pay system.
