The webinar will examine barriers to voting, some myths and truths, and strategies about young voter turnout.

To: PSAC Young Workers in BC,   Each year the BC Federation of Labour organizes a "Young Workers' School" at Camp Jubilee situated in Indian Arm in BC. It's a great opportunity to meet young workers from a whole bunch of different unions. There are workshops offered and time allotted to take part in some fun outdoor activities as well. This year it will be held from June 19 to 21, 2015. The School website is http://conference.bcfed.ca/jubilee/ check it out for more specific info.

Eight young workers from across the country participated in PSAC’s first national young worker committee meeting in Ottawa from January 10-11. They spent time creating a three-year plan of action – focusing on ways to make young workers a more prominent and vocal part of our union.

I attended the BC Federation of Labour Convention for the first time in 2014 as a young worker and the only delegate from my component.  I found it to be a very different experience given that it was primarily focussed on private sector unions and I work in a public sector union.

Thanks to Liz Oliphant (on the left in the photo), BC Regional Council South Island Coordinator & young worker for this report from the BC Fed Convention ...I had the opportunity to attend this year’s BC Federation of Labour Convention in Vancouver from November 24-28th.    This was my first BCFed convention and it was exciting to attend as a young worker delegate.  I also had the chance to participate in the Young Worker Mock Convention that was hosted the Sunday before convention.

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee (RWC) members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) National Bargaining Conference.The CFIA National Bargaining Conference will take place January 26-28, 2015 at the Marriott Residence Inn, Ottawa.

Representatives from PSAC BC's two Young Worker Committees gathered in Vancouver on the last weekend of November to network, get some training on mobilization and recruitment, and to create a strategic plan for young workers in the Region. The group also heard from A/REVP Jamey Mills, who got his start as a union activist as the Young Worker's Coordinator on the BC Regional Council, and from George Christou, the co-chair of the Vancouver & District Labour Council's Young Worker Committee, and participated in the BC Federation of Labour's 2014 Young Workers Mock C
