Women have fought for equity for many years. Now, we are faced with huge job cuts in the public service and those cuts clearly hurt women. We have published a pamphlet entitled "Job Cuts Hurt Women And We're Fighting Back!" If you haven't seen it - email me at megyesk@psac-afpc.com and I will get one to you.

In conjunction with the Canadian Labour Congress and the BC Federation of Labour, PSAC BC held a budget watch and press conference on March 29th.

REVP Bob Jackson and BC Fed President Jim Sinclair comment on the federal budget in the two clips below ...

Wrong Choices, Wrong Time

This is a budget for Bay Street

After months of mixed messages and secrecy, today’s federal budget confirms that this government’s austerity agenda will leave Canadians without services they need, put tens of thousands out of work, put the environment and health and safety at risk and shrink the economy.

Economists estimate this budget will cost tens of thousands of public and private sector jobs but provides very little information on where and how cuts will be implemented.

VANCOUVER, March 27, 2012 /CNW/ - The Public Service Alliance of Canada, in conjunction with the Canadian Labour Congress, will host a Budget Watch when the federal budget comes down at 1PM on March 29th.

In conjunction with the Canadian Labour Congress, PSAC BC will be holding a budget watch and press conference in Vancouver. All members in Vancouver are invited to join us, if they are able.
  • What: A coordinated PSAC, Labour, and Community response to the budget.

In conjunction with the Canadian Labour Congress, PSAC is calling on members to contact their Member of Parliament concerning Bill C-377. In its current form, Bill C-377 would be the most costly and discriminatory Bill faced by the labour movement across Canada in memory.

We ask that all members contact their local Member of Parliament - especially if the local MP is a Conservative - and voice opposition to the Bill C-377. For more information see below.
