Ottawa - Canada's largest federal public sector union is calling on the government to put an end to mixed messages and the secrecy surrounding how much it wants to cut, when, where and how.

Every year on March 21st, the world commemorates the anniversary of the 1960 Sharpville massacre, which saw dozens of peaceful demonstrators shot by police in apartheid South Africa for protesting racially discriminatory laws. March 21 is a time to remember those who fought against racism and for equality and human rights.

TC Group members are in bargaining with Treasury Board now and we have an opportunity to make our concerns heard.

If you believe in strong health and safety protections for Canadians, send this letter to Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, to demonstrate that you value the workers providing these protections, and demand that your government value them too.

Attached you will find the minutes from the Young Worker Caucus AGM held on December 7, 2011, and the documents that were presented and discussed there. At the meeting the caucus members passed of the Terms of Reference for the BC Regional Young Workers Committee - the first formal step towards creating a Regional Young Worker Committee!

PSAC President John Gordon was on CBC's Power and Politics last night, defending public sector workers' right to decent severance pay if they are laid off. He also emphasized the fact that the Workforce Adjustment Appendix is primarily designed to help government workers find other employment in the public service.

PSAC resumed negotiations with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Mar. 13. Union members and supporters are wearing black in the workplace, to protest against impending cuts to food inspection, the employer's lack of respect for administrative staff and the CFIA's unwillingness to bargain for a fair contract.
