Hands Off Our Pension - Tell Flaherty not to reduce the deficit on the backs of public service workers

Once again, it's time to fight for our pension plan.

As recently reported in the media, Prime Minister Harper, Finance Minister Flaherty and other Ministers are openly talking about the Public Service Superannuation Plan, and leaving the door open to changes in the upcoming federal budget. Those changes could include reducing benefits, changing the plan for new and younger employees and/or increasing contribution rates even more.

Higher tuition fees and changes to student loan programs mean BC students are now saddled with record-high student loan debt. The average BC university student debt is $27,000 upon graduation. About half of all students in BC depend on student financial assistance in order to pursue post-secondary education.

PA occupational groups: classification reform process begins

Treasury Board has finally outlined its preferred model for new occupational groups for the Program and Administrative Services (PA) group.  This model suggests three new occupational groups including a separate group for work done by the Welfare Programs (WP) group.
